Couch Middle School Media Center

Bringing the outside in at Couch Middle School!
The end of this beautiful Media Center has three wonderful picture windows that look out to distant trees. Now the surrounding wall is filled with matching blue skies and three large trees filled with leaves. No ordinary leaves however...these hold the names of students, faculty, and staff who purchased a leaf and helped fund this project!

Along the side wall of the media center, there are six windows above eye-level bookcases.  A bit of character was added to the windows with the look of exposed brick and some old world stucco, topped off with shutters.
The addition of this window behind the circulation desk helped tie a third wall
of the Media Center into the theme of the rest of the room. It also is warm and inviting
for those working in and utilizing the Media Center at Couch Middle School!

Riverside Elementary Memorial Mural

This Mural was painted in memory of Brandon, a Riverside Elem. student who passed away. It is in the special needs hallway, and flanks the door that leads to a special reading room at the rear of the Media Center.  It depicts items meant to remind students, faculty, and staff of this remarkable young man.
The rabbit belongs to one of Riverside's staff members, and is a welcome visitor in the special needs department!
This is Brandon Bear. The actual build-a-bear serves as a memorial to Brandon in his former classroom.

 Go R.E.S...Riverside Rockets!

The quilt is one which is used in Brandon's former special needs room. The books are some of his, and his family members' favorites.
This is Corduroy! He is a favorite in the classroom.

Commissioned canvass work

36x48 Acrylic on canvass

This work was done in honor of a preschool child, Piper, who passed away. It hangs over the door of her classroom.

Riverside Elementary Memorial Mural

I was honored to paint this mural in memory of Mrs. faye, a teacher who had passed away. Depicted are scenes reminding students and co-workers of her life. The signs show places where she had lived, and the scene is reminicent of South Georgia where she was raised. Her favorite books rest on the bench with her reading glasses, while her beach bag and flip flops sit to the side.
